What Type of Stacker Do I Need?
We often get asked this question a daily basis “What type of Stacker do I actually need for the types of pallets I use?”. If you use open base pallets, also known as Euro pallets, you can use a Stacker with narrow wrap over forks. If you use closed base pallets, also known as CHEP pallets, then you would need to use a Stacker with wider straddle legs.
Let’s take a look at the options..
The Stacker above has narrow wrap over forks which makes it very manoeuvrable and perfect for use with the open base pallets, however, the wrap over forks prevent it from lowering a pallet as the pallet will sit on top of it’s own straddle legs, also, when lifting a pallet will cause the pallet to break! To overcome this problem, the closed base pallet could either be lowered on to wooden blocks or a more favourable option is to lower it onto a open base pallet.
This Stacker above has the wider straddle legs and can therefore handle both closed and open base pallets! Also, because of the extra width, it is extremely stable, particularly at height and its larger wheels cope better with floor irregularities, however, the unit is larger and heavier.
